The story of Nada’s married life officially began on October 14, 1989. On that memorable autumn day, which coincided with the holy Feast Day of the Protection of the Theotokos, she was united in holy matrimony with Nikola at St. Stephens Serbian Orthodox Church. Prior to her marriage, she was known as Nada Patijarevich and resided in Cleveland, Ohio. Her marriage marked a pivotal transition as she relocated across the border to Hamilton, Ontario, embracing a new home, a new city, and a vibrant spiritual and cultural network.

The solemn wedding ceremony was officiated by parish priest Proto Rastko Trbuhovich. Assisting in the service were Proto Stevo Stojsavljevich of Hamilton, Ontario, and the late Proto Slobodan Zivadinovich, who was a cherished, longtime friend to both the bride’s and groom’s families. For the newlyweds, this sacred occasion was far more than a ceremonial routine; it signaled the inauguration of a shared life grounded in faith and collective purpose.

A Wedding Celebration Immersed in Serbian Heritage

The nuptials of Nada and Nikola are fondly recalled as a vibrant festive gathering that beautifully blended family warmth, orthodox faith, regional music, and deeply rooted customs. The celebration was distinguished by several remarkable features:

• A Magnificent Bridal Party: The couple was accompanied by an extraordinary wedding entourage consisting of 40 individuals, reflecting the extensive network of supportive friends and relatives surrounding them.
• Traditional Attire: A dedicated group of 12 members from the Avala folklore group of Hamilton stood proudly in the bridal party, dressed in authentic Šumadija Nosinje attire.
• A Cultural Gift: During the evening reception, the Avala folklore troupe delivered a special live dance performance
