The community of Mayfield, Kentucky, is mourning the loss of Dr. Ted H. Jefferson, a dedicated orthopedic surgeon, devoted family man, and active local community member. Dr. Jefferson passed away at his home on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the age of 59. Throughout his life, he built a reputation defined by medical expertise, deep personal connections, and an unwavering commitment to restoring health and mobility to his patients.
A Distinguished Medical Career and Personal Pursuits
Born on January 25, 1967, Dr. Jefferson discovered a passion for medicine early in life, eventually establishing a highly respected career as a self-employed orthopedic surgeon. Over his years in practice, he remained deeply committed to staying at the forefront of his specialty, maintaining active memberships in both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO).
Beyond his medical office and the operating room, Dr. Jefferson pursued personal growth and active discipline through martial arts. He was an involved member of the Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy, an interest that reflected his drive for continuous learning, physical health, and focus outside of his professional life.
Surviving Family and Loved Ones
While Dr. Jefferson achieved much in his professional endeavors, his proudest accomplishments revolved around his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Wieder Jefferson, as well as his parents, William and Nancy Howard Jefferson, who reside in Ocean City, New Jersey.
He leaves behind four sons who were a source of great pride throughout his life:

- Ryan Jefferson and his wife, Allyson, of Paducah
- Evan Jefferson of Mayfield
- Liam Jefferson of Cincinnati
In addition to his wife, parents, and children, Dr. Jefferson is survived by his brother, Matt Jefferson, and his wife, Meredith; his sister-in-law, Kelly Jefferson; four cherished grandchildren, Parker, Kohen, Rylie, and Phoenixx; and five loving nieces and nephews, including four nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Jefferson.
Memorial Services and Funeral Information
Friends, former patients, and members of the local community are invited to gather to honor Dr. Jefferson’s life and legacy. A public visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Reverend Chad Lamb officiating.
